It all started when my son wanted a sold out stone

It all started when my son wanted a sold out stone/gem book from his school book fair… so multiple crystals later here we are 🙌🏼🙌🏼 It’s literally been so fun and I cannot believe how easy Borax crystals are to make. A few things I’ve learned along the way:

1. Larger pots are better that way the pipe cleaner cannot touch the bottom or the sides (the crystals will stick if it touches)
2. Some blogs I’ve read heat their water up in the microwave, which works too, but make sure you bring it to a boil. Always start with SUPER hot water.
3. Less crystals in a container = bigger crystals
4. You can reuse your borax solution over and over (just reheat it back up
5. Don’t use your nicest pan to do this in just in case. I don’t have that nice of pans so mine was fine but use something else if you have expensive cookwear.
6. The mixture was approximately 2 cups of water to 3/4 cup of Borax. You will start to see it get so saturated that it falls on the bottom. Then you know to stop adding it.
7. I tried to match the pipcleaner with the color foodcoloring but if I had white, I would have used those first
8. Obviously, parental supervision since it involves boiling water!! I know it’s a given but I had to write it ❤️❤️❤️

The skirt runs TTS but if in between sizes I would go down. The top runs really small so go up two sizes at least. I’m wearing an xs skirt and medium top for reference.

I originally bought one of these for my oldest son’s sixth birthday (because he really wanted a pet fish) and my four year old also ended up LOVING it. Little did I know this cool looking light would turn into something so much more… and here we are a year later and it’s still used every night so I had to share our story in case it could help someone else out!

It was often a long process putting him to sleep last year and he always insisted on sleeping with his door open. When we implemented this light, it served two purposes, one as a night light and the other as something soothing for him to watch. He even requested we begin to shut his door! Which has lead to him sleeping an extra hour or so in the mornings.

✨The light does have an eight hour shut off time so take note of that.
